The program for the 1997 National Peace Corps Association Conference is going to be in San Diego CA, and thousands of RPCVs and Volunteers are expected to attend the July 11-13 event.

This year' theme is Nurturing Our Worldwide Family: Finding Common Ground, suggesting that we are welcoming the entire family - RPCVs, past and current staff, spouses, children, parents, friends, and Peace Corps country nationals.

Current plans call for registration to begin on Thursday, July 10th. That day will include an evening reception with entertainment from Eastern Europe, followed by country of service reunions. The opening ceremonies will occur on Friday morning, with various workshops, meetings, special sessions, and an evening banquet featuring African entertainment.

Friday, 12 July, will see a continuation of the meetings and forums, Volunteer Day, the annual general meeting, and an Asian-Pacific themed banquet. Closing festivities on Sunday, 13 July, will feature a walk/run for peace, a non-denominational worship service, the awards luncheon, and the closing ceremony, featuring Latin American music.

The grand bazaar will run throughout the conference, as will the jobs fair. There will be facilities for child care and children' activities.

Member registration fees range from $70 - $125, with additional fees for special events. There will also be local option tours around San Diego, Mexico, and Disneyland.

The conference will be held at the Town & Country Hotel in San Diego. Special room rates will be available for attendees.
