Return to Water in Africa

Morocco, which means "the west" in Arabic, is often called "the land of contrasts." Temperatures can range from quite hot in the south to very cold in the interior, to moderate along the coast. The topography is highly diverse as well: Morocco has deserts, beaches, and mountain ranges. The major cities of Morocco also reflect a contrast between the very modern (for example, the cities of Casablanca and Agadir) and the very traditional (such as the medinas of Fez and Marrakech).
